Essential Tips for New Clients

Making the Most of Your Experience

Welcome to our dressmaker's studio, where we strive to create fashionable and flattering outfits that perfectly reflect your personality. Before visiting us, there are a few steps you can take to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Do Your Homework
Before your consultation, we encourage you to research different styles and designs, whether you're looking for a casual daywear skirt or a special occasion outfit. By familiarizing yourself with various styles, you'll have a clearer idea of what suits you and which elements you'd like to incorporate into your custom garment.

Go Dress Shopping
Since we don't have sample dresses in our studio, we recommend going dress shopping to try on different styles and identify what you like and dislike. Remember that comfort is a priority here, so don't settle for an uncomfortable outfit just for the sake of achieving a specific look.

Consider the Occasion and Venue
Keep in mind the date and venue of the special occasion when choosing a style, as these factors can greatly influence your decision. It's also helpful to know the colour theme to ensure your outfit doesn't clash with the overall aesthetic.

Alterations and Custom Outfits
If you can't find your dream dress, you come to us with a clearer idea of what you're looking for. Alternatively, if you find the perfect dress but need customisation, our services range from shortening hems to complete remakes and even creating accessories like veils and jackets. Please note that we require at least 3 months' advance notice for bookings, as our schedule fills up quickly.

Scheduling and Pricing
For bespoke outfits, provide as much advance notice as possible since sourcing fabrics can take time. If you plan to change size, let us know so we can schedule fittings accordingly. Pricing varies depending on design complexity and material choices, with making costs starting at £180 and fabric costs ranging from £10 to £100 per meter (or higher for laces).

Choosing Fabrics
We have several fabric sample books in our studio from top suppliers like Michael's Bridal Fabrics, Carrington Fabrics, James Hare, and Bennett Silks. You're also welcome to purchase your own fabric, and we recommend visiting Goldhawk Road in London for a great selection of shops. We're more than happy to work with the fabric you provide.

By following these tips, you'll be well-prepared for your dressmaker consultation, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience as we collaborate to create your perfect outfit.
