Karen's Bespoke Wedding Dress

Karen and Andrew married in July, with Karen wearing a bespoke pale aqua satin bridal gown and her daughter Helen wearing a bespoke dress in a complementary deeper teal.
From ideas to the final design

Karen and Helen came to me with some ideas and older Burda pattern designs for inspiration. From there, we developed the final designs together. They chose the details of their dresses themselves – from the colours and fabrics to the shape, neckline and finishing touches.
Made individually for Karen and Helen

Karen’s pale aqua satin bridal gown featured soft draping across the neckline and bodice, a godet train and a small bow detail at the back. For additional support and structure, I also created an internal corset within the dress. Helen’s bridesmaid dress was made in a deeper teal satin, designed to complement her mother’s gown without being identical.

Both dresses were made to measure, with fittings and adjustments along the way to achieve the right fit and allow the ladies to comfortably walk, sit and dance in their finished outfits. I also made matching bespoke dolly bags using the same fabrics as the dresses.

Once we have agreed on a design, Karen and Helen chose to purchase their fabrics themselves, and then the making began.

The initial consultation is free of charge and can take up to two hours. You do not need to begin the actual sewing immediately, so if you have a wedding or special occasion planned well in advance, it is worth getting in touch early. This gives us time to discuss ideas, choose fabrics and make any changes before fittings and construction begin closer to the event.
Congratulations again to Karen and Andrew, and thank you to Karen and Helen for trusting me to create these two very individual dresses for such an important day🩵
